Donald Trump announced the creation of a U.S. crypto reserve

US President Donald Trump has instructed the Digital Asset Markets Working Group to "give the go-ahead" for the creation of a cryptocurrency strategic reserve, which will include XRP, SOL, and ADA. The decision to include altcoins came as a surprise to the community. "And of course BTC and ETH, as well as other valuable cryptocurrencies, will be the heart of the reserve. I also love Bitcoin and Ethereum!", the head of state added afterwards, as the creation of a national digital gold reserve was one of the politician's election promises. The community expected the decision to create a strategic bitcoin reserve to be among the first decisions Trump would make after returning to the White House on January 20.

Against the backdrop of the US President's statement, the assets he mentioned in connection with the National Crypto Fund have risen sharply in price. Over the past 24 hours, the ADA exchange rate has increased by more than 50%. However, the total market capitalization decreased by 8% to $2.76 trillion in 24 hours. Bitcoin's dominance over the period fell from 54.91% to 48.84%.

Trump's decision to create a multi-currency reserve took many by surprise. The inclusion of altcoins was deemed illogical by Peter Schiff, a well-known critic of digital gold. Jeff Park, head of alpha strategies at Bitwise, called Trump's underestimation of bitcoin's exclusivity a "huge political miscalculation."
